Merck Foundation’s CEO Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej Launches ‘Our Africa’ TV Program at Annual Alumni Summit 2023
Merck Foundation Annual Alumni Summit 2023 RECAP: 2022 Merck Foundation Awards Ceremony & ‘Our Africa’ TV Program Launch On 4th May 2023
On Thursday, the 4th of May 2023, Merck Foundation held their Annual Alumni Summit 2023 at the Sarova Panafric, where Kenyan doctors and media personality were awarded for their outstanding work in relation to public health. During the summit, Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation, the guest of honour, formally launched “Our Africa” TV program show which will be airing all matters related to social & health issues relevant to the African continent through Fashion & Art.
Selected media houses, including H&S Magazine Kenya, attended the summit. Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, not only addressed some of the pressing issues in our continent such as issues related to infertility and it’s impact on women and family at large, but she also reached out to all media to help spread the positive message by reaching masses and educating them on topics such as infertility and its prevention, in order to help break the stigma. About “Our Africa” TV Program by Merck Foundation
“Our Africa” is a pan-African TV program that is conceptualized, produced, directed, and co-hosted by Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation. The program features African Fashion Designers, Singers, and prominent experts from various domains with the aim of raising awareness and creating a culture shift across Africa on issues such as diabetes, ending child marriage, supporting girl education, women’s empowerment, stopping GBV, ending FGM, and breaking infertility stigma, among other social and health issues affecting the continent. Through “Our Africa,” Merck Foundation has established the first “Fashion and Art community with Purpose” across 20 countries to break the silence and be the voice of the voiceless on critical and sensitive social and health issues in Africa and beyond.
The TV program is now broadcasted in Kenya starting May 6th, 2023, on KTN Home. You can watch it every Saturday at 5:00 PM and every Wednesday at 6:30 AM. Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation, will host the show along with co-host Brian Mulondo from Uganda. In the program, they will discuss and address various social and health issues relevant to Africa in a unique way through the African Community of Fashion and Art with Purpose. It will be a first-of-its-kind interactive show, featuring talented fashion designers and singers who sensitize communities through their creative work across Africa.
Objective:
The program aims to reach out to youth and other members of urban and rural communities with the aim of addressing and raising awareness about a wide range of pressing social and health issues that are relevant to the continent.
