Chutney- A spicy Indian condiment that is made from fruits or vegetables along with spices, vinegar and sugar. It is served with Indian curries, or eaten with cheese or cold meats or even on it’s own. Try this simple sweet & spicy home-made Mango Chutney recipe & use it as a spread, dip or an accompaniment with your curries!
Mango Chutney Recipe
1 cup raw mangoes grated and cured with salt overnight then rinsed the following morning
1 cup sugar
2 tbs ground cinnamon
2 tbs ground cardamom
2 cinnamon sticks
6 tbs chilli flakes
1 cup water
Salt to taste
On low heat, in a pan add the mangoes and the ingredients above. Let everything cook until mangoes are virtually mashed up. Once chutney is ready i.e. thick & syrupy consistency, remove from heat and let it cool. Pour in sterilized glass bottles & store- you can keep for months in fridge.
Serve with your favourite curry!
