You Are Worthy Of Love- Positive Reflection Of The Week

YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE, YOU ARE IMPORTANT… By Shahwana Khanam

Have you had days where you wake up and see outside the window with people around, flowers, trees, where the sun is shining & the day looks bright and welcoming? You have a partner, spouse, kids perhaps a good job, a great car parked outside a beautiful house, yet when you sip that cup of coffee gazing into nothing, you get this feeling I have it all, yet there is this empty feeling nagging you from time to time. Inside, you know you are missing something, that you are not complete.

We deny our feelings and wants, that’s what’s missing. We forget to love ourselves and put everyone’s needs first and that’s what’s missing. we forget “I am important” with the day to day running around, trying to please others. We forget ourselves in the hustle of life when the body starts giving warning signs of organs failing, suddenly we have health conditions, like diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma etc. We then start asking questions what happened to me, I thought I looked after myself, what’s happening here?

The truth actually is that the body talks to us every day, gives us signals, we ignore the alarms. Every pain is a signal, every discomfort is a signal, every sleepless night you had or have is a signal. The body is  actually whispering: ‘Hello there am not ok, pay attention please, slow down.’

Areas we can take charge of loving oneself:
 Start with your body
 Next, your emotions

If you have the two in control, you can create a better life & fill that empty space inside you. One needs to love him/herself, appreciate oneself, look out for self-interest also, there’s nothing wrong in that, watching out not to be selfish, but caring for oneself.

In the book by Stephen R.Covey ( 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) he mentions to have a Personal Mission Statement & to make it simple.

In the book ALL IS WELL by authors Louise Hay & Mona Lisa Schulz M.D., PhD: Heal your body with medicine, affirmations, and intuitions, they write: ‘you have the power to be happy, you have the power to stay healthy, the power to your self-love is loving yourself and appreciating your body.’

The starting point of love begins with ‘ourself’. Loving oneself happens above all else when we accept who we are: our mistakes and our successes, our lights, and our shadows… Our value rests within ourselves, in appearing exactly as we are and feeling like we are worthy of love despite everything.

If there is only one lesson you learn this entire year, it’s this: You are absolutely the most important person in your entire universe. There is only one like you. Your entire life is lived through your eyes.

You know yourself better than anyone, your relationship with your self-matters.

But self-love isn’t easy. As they say: you are your own biggest critic.

Here are some tips to get that love story with your self started:

  • Look into the mirror daily, deep into your eyes and say ‘You are a good person, in the process of being a better one, evolution involves time and process and lots of dumb mistakes, you are learning from them and growing. You are a good person, remember that.
  • Sleep well, take care of that beauty sleep (8 hrs)
  • Eat healthily
  • Give your self that me-time ’30 minutes alone’, write a journal say nice things about yourself daily. Shun the distractions, your me-time is me-time period!
  • Exercise regularly and drink plenty of water
  • Smile at yourself and say ‘I love you’
  • Be grateful
  • Avoid toxic habits
  • Reflect on your life and meditate

Loving yourself is more than just a state of mind – it is a process and a habit that needs to be developed. You show yourself that you love ‘you’, the brain will adapt to this. I also understand it’s easier said than done. But there is no gain without some effort.

Get creative and express yourself in whatever way you like. Painting, writing, sculpting, building, music, whatever takes your fancy, and make sure you leave your inner critic at the door. There are no right ways to be creative.

Remember ‘The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself, everything that you want you already are.’ – Poet Rumi

Give up the need for approval from others, for “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” — Dita Von Teese
