Chef Khan wishes all his viewers a very berry Christmas and has a wonderful Christmas recipe for all his fans: Victoria Sponge Cake! So make sure you put on your aprons and bake this delicious sponge cake with strawberry jam and cream; a perfect treat to have with tea this Christmas!
VICTORIA SPONGE CAKE
VICTORIA SPONGE CAKE (6-8 Servings)
250 grams butter (room temperature)
250 grams caster sugar
250 grams self-raising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 tablespoon milk
250 gram whipping cream
150 gram strawberry jam
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add one egg at a time and add little flour, then repeat the process until all eggs are done.
Beat this well and add in the vanilla essence and mill then mix & pour batter into a baking cake tin.
Preheat your oven at 180 degrees and then bake for 35-40 minutes.
Remove from oven & allow to cool down completely then cut it into half and spread in your jam and whipped cream.
