Office IP Surveillance Security System

Today, surveillance systems – IP and CCTV, help businesses in monitoring, staff safety, theft deterrence, and confirming incidents. Employees feel safer and work with ease when they have knowledge that they are protected. When choosing a video management system there are key issues that need to be addressed such as: how you plan to use it, where you plan to place the cameras, the size of business, do you plan to expand your business. Most importantly, outline the problems you face and would like to combat using the system. For instance, do you travel often or are you barely available in the office due to the nature of your role in the company? In this case remote surveillance will be a suitable option for the business.

In view of this, we came up with a surveillance system perfect for a startup that is guaranteed to grow with your business as you expand to bigger office spaces. The devices in this bundle are three 2MP fixed bullet cameras with IP67 meaning they can be used both indoors and outdoors. Also included are a 4 channel NVR and 1 TB hard disk for storage.

What you gain with our IP surveillance system

What you gain with our IP surveillance system

Frame rate and image quality: The frame rate of IP cameras is higher that than for analog, hence ideal for areas with a lot of movement like retail stores, offices, hospitals. The higher frame rate allows detailed sharp images to be captured by IP rather than blurry images that are common in analogue. You also get to enjoy digital zoom in and zoom out features with IP cameras. However, for certain situations or areas, image quality may not be a crucial factor.

Coverage: Due to multiple sensors, one IP camera has the ability to contain up to three or four cameras. This way one IP camera can cover an area that would require several analog cameras to cover. This makes an IP surveillance system a great choice for large areas saving businesses a lot of money.

• Cabling: With CCTV surveillance systems (analog) you need a DVR cable plus a power cable. Too much cabling can be expensive and cumbersome especially during maintenance. With IP cameras you only need one cable.

• Encryption: CCTV systems do not require encryption making them prone to hacker who can access information or potentially replace your signal with an external one. On the flip side, IP systems, video is encrypted and authenticated ensuring secure transmission.

• Costs: Like most technology and discoveries, costs tend to start really high then gradually get streamlined with increased supply. Most entry level IP cameras today are priced at very reasonable amounts making IP surveillance more accessible and popular in the market. In addition, you may require less IP cameras to do the same job as their analog counterpart thus your IP investment could well worth it.

• Ease of installation: Whereas an analog camera takes two wires, an IP camera only takes one for both data and power that connects to a network switch, so you don’t need power at the camera site. You can also focus and zoom in remotely, says Sutton. “Once it’s installed, as long as you’ve got it angled at what you want to angle it at, you can control the focus remotely from your workstation,” he says.

• Resolution: Manufacturers tend to come up with better technology upgrades in a bid to make more sales and bet competition. In the same breath, resolution in cameras keeps getting better with every new camera release into the market. IP cameras have superior resolution, aspect ratios and overall image quality than analogs.

• Analytics and intelligence: Like small computers, IP camera technology compresses and stores video. These cameras can be programmed to give analytics like detection of smoke, temperature, motion, body fever, track predefined incidences, count people, sense anomalies, and set off alarms.

Always make a checklist when deciding to try a new surveillance system. Here are some important factors to look into.

new surveillance system

• Contact a vendor and installer who specializes in IP systems. At Talinda Express, we understand networking with over 10 years’ experience in ICT projects. Our engineers are accredited and experienced in installing CCTV and IP surveillance systems.

• With the vendor/installer it is wise to discuss what you want to achieve, the budget, analytic system and longevity of the system.

• Lighting of the area is very important when designing and determining a camera system. With surveillance you need to have the right camera for the right application otherwise you may be throwing your money down the drain. Areas inside and outside often experience varying levels of sunlight in the day.

• Remote Access: Our system includes an NVR that allows remote access to live footage via mobile app or web browser. Authorized personnel can be given access to these platforms where they can stay up to date with happenings on the ground as well as receive notifications as soon as any odd activities are detected.

• Scalability: Do you want to add cameras in future? For businesses planning to expand, a flexible and scalable surveillance systems, IP makes it quite easy. Unfortunately, traditional CCTV systems are closed circuit thus difficult to scale and hard-wired.

• Analytics: What reports do you require from the system and how best can this be achieved? The features of the cameras can help with these. For instance, thermographic cameras can be installed to monitor the temperature of everyone accessing and leaving your business.

• Size of premise. Most homes, small businesses, retail outlets, restaurants and large enterprises require IP surveillance. This is due to the high human traffic and security of personnel and property.
