Chutney- A spicy Indian condiment that is made from fruits or vegetables along with spices, vinegar and sugar. It is served with Indian curries, or eaten with cheese or cold meats or even on it’s own. Try this simple, sweet & spicy home-made English Apple Chutney recipe & serve with cheese platter or game meat- YUMMY!
English Apple Chutney Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup vinegar
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
5 green apples pealed and cut in cubes
5 tbs chili flakes
2 whole star anise
6 cloves
3 inch ginger grated
1 whole bulb garlic grated
1 tbs husked mustard seeds
1 tbs mustard powder
1 tbs hot English mustard
Salt to taste
Method
Put everything together in a pan and simmer on medium heat until apples are fork tender and liquid is syrupy. Let the mixture cool then decant in sterilized glass jars. You can store in fridge for months!
Serve with cheese platter and crackers! It also tastes amazing when paired with any game meat like guinea fowl or pork.!
