What Should Men Wear For Their Zoom Meetings?
2020 has been crazy so far, with the current COVID-19 crisis, there has been a drastic shift in the way people work, i.e. from office to home. This shift has been a massive change in most people’s lives. It’s important to note that just because you are working from home doesn’t mean you don’t need to have your professional game on. In order to get into the who work-mode and to maintain sanity, it’s also recommended to get up and get dressed. Apart from trying to keep to the same work routine which is having a good night’s rest and waking up early one should also make it a point to get dressed & out of those pyjamas. Keeping in mind all meetings have been shifted online, who wants to look scruffy and turn up looking like they just got out of bed into their zoom meeting? Remember, dress according to your client and you won’t go wrong. If you are not sure it’s better to be a little dressed up then dressed down! Gentlemen below is a do’s & don’ts list of what you should wear at your Zoom meetings with a few tips to keep in mind whilst dressing up for your online meetings.
Do’s & Don’ts:
- Don’t wear a tank top to your conference meeting. You are definitely underdressed and need to dress up!
- If you don’t want to iron, opt for a material that doesn’t crease. Remember, if you don’t want to iron that’s fine provided you wear a shirt that isn’t all creased up.
- Avoid bright prints & colours as they can be distracting. Stick to neutrals instead.
- Remember you shouldn’t have the attitude ‘I am just dressing up for a Zoom meeting’. This should be your routine; wake up early, dress up and get to work. This is actually motivation & should be practised regularly!
- If you want to wear t-shirts opt for polos as they are smart. Please don’t wear any funky tees or tees with some absurd messages or images. Remember you are dressing for a meeting and it calls for a professional look!
- Even though, below the waistline doesn’t really matter, please wear trousers as it gets you prepped & into the work-mode.
- Pick a colour according to your background. If you have a black background don’t wear black as you will just blend into the background. You can select white or even light grey, for example, to stand out.
- Don’t look scruffy, SHAVE or SHAPE your beard!
- Always brush your hair, you don’t want to look like you have just woken up.
