Every Day Is A Gift – Positive Reflection Of The Week
Every Day Is A Gift. That’s Why It’s Called The Present! -Written by Shahwana Khanam
Have we thought about how about the days in our lives? There are 365 days in a year, 1440 minutes in a day that’s 24 hrs, and 86400 seconds in a day. Based on the age we are in, how many hours have we truly lived?
Let us calculate:
- 8hrs of sleep
- 2hrs of meals + shower
- 2hrs of travel time from work or shopping
- 8hrs at work
20 hrs just go by, with only 4 hrs of quality time left during the day! Do we consider this as quality time, or do they pass us by in activities we can account for?
On average, human life is considered at 80 years and we spent most of it sleeping or doing activities which we have no remembrance of.
When we live, do we truly live?
What changes can we make, to make the hours worthwhile? How can we change our lifestyle? When the time comes to say goodbye to planet Earth, have we spent quality time or have we left a good legacy behind without regrets?
Every day is a gift, have you thought of that?
How do you want to use this gift? The possibilities are infinite, but here are some thoughts to help narrow it down:
Approach the day with happy thoughts and gratitude. It’s important to know we are visitors on this planet, this shall not last forever. So why waste time, not wearing your favourite perfume, why stack away your favourite chinaware/tea set for that special day? Why not make that special day now and here. Do not wait to apologize or to say ‘I love you’ that moment is now! The gift you have of life is now. The second which just passed is not coming back. What are you waiting for? That tomorrow is not promised and not seen when it arrives, cross the bridge, but it’s not guaranteed!
Thank you for the gift of life.
Help us to appreciate every breath we take.
Do not let us take your gifts for granted.
Help us to see your handiwork in our lives.
We thank you and praise you forever and ever.
“In that moment I understand that I have the power to create the situation right here, right now. I could walk past and say nothing, I could stop and talk, I could do whatever, and create a moment. Every moment is my moment to create.” ― Gregg Korrol, The Gifted Storyteller: The Power is in the Story You Tell
“Some of us are given more time on this Earth than others, but none of us should ever take the gift of life for granted. If we strive to be the best we can be, committing ourselves to what is right and true, while helping others along the way, then we will leave our own story worth the telling and be a shining example for our children and our grandchildren and all those great, great, great, great-grandchildren in those far off times to come.” ― Laurence Overmire, A Revolutionary American Family: The McDonalds of Somerset County, New Jersey
Look at the possibilities you can achieve in every minute you are alive, how many people can you help and give a reason to live and be grateful.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. – John Lennon
So, do we understand the real meaning of Life or are we just living? Food for thought…
