Before One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, there was the Backstreet Boys, one of the most successful boy bands ever. They crafted a distinct, radio-ready sound that emphasized pitch-perfect vocal harmonies. Their sweet balladry, flowing suits, and pec-flexing dance moves helped push the group’s momentum into its zenith in 1999. An extended hiatus was broken in 2013, when the Backstreet Boys reunited with producer pal Max Martin. Their 20th anniversary was documented in the film Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of.
