7 Tips For The Perfect Nursery:
1. The Nursery Colour-
White has been a timeless colour for nurseries. If you are looking at a more classy yet modern touch then try shades of grey! Both these colours are neutral and just look spectacular. You can always layer the grey for e.g. for a personal touch! You can even personalise the walls with your baby’s first name for an added personal touch.
2. Picking The Perfect Crib-
A baby’s crib is where he/she will be spending most of the time in. It has to be comfortable above everything else. Looking for a fancy crib that isn’t comfortable doesn’t make any sense. Always stick to a simple, elegant yet comfortable crib! It’s also smart to consider going for a crib that can convert into a baby’s first bed. This is helpful when the crib is outgrown! If you are fussy you can always have a crib custom-made to your preference by a skilled carpenter!
3. Baby’s Bassinet –
Unlike a crib that doesn’t really rock, a bassinet has an additional feature that rocks your baby to sleep. You can always pick a comfortable mobile bassinet that can be moved around from the nursery to your bedroom. This is a must-have item for your baby and will be used from zero to about four months of age.
4. The Mobile-
When hanging a mobile above your baby’s crib you have to be extremely cautious. The mobile should be at least 16 inches above the crib mattress & the strings shouldn’t hang below the railing, making sure your baby can’t reach it. Also, make sure the mobile is secured properly so it doesn’t fall. make sure your baby can’t reach it. You can hand make these or just buy them from the store. It’s advisable to use soft toys hanging.
5. Diaper Changing Station-
A diaper changing station is an essential part of the nursery. When designing one or getting one installed, do make sure it is placed at the right height for you to comfortably stand and change your baby. Also, make sure it is safely secured. Always use a comfortable diaper pad for the baby. You can also place diapers, wipes, baby lotion, storage bins, a couple of toys to distract your baby etc. near the diaper changing station.
6. Proper Lighting-
When installing lighting whether it’s a beautiful chandelier or a modern piece of lighting make sure you have a control or a dimmer fitted to dim the lights down. Use warm colour LEDs.
7. Comfortable Feeding Chair-
Mamas this one’s for you! Make sure you have a comfortable feeding chair placed in the nursery to feed your baby. Remember, you don’t want to have backaches, so it’s best you invest in a cosy chair like a lazy boy where you can stretch your legs out!
