Victorian Velvet Cake By Chef Hemedi
Chef Hemedi’s Victorian Velvet Cake is by far one of the easiest cake recipes to try & guess what anyone can try this! This has therefore got to be a perfect Easter addition to the Easter recipes of the week! As Chef Ali himself says “You can even prepare it blindfolded!! VICTORIAN VELVET CAKE RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
400 grams of self-raising flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
320 grams of sugar
300 grams of margarine
8 eggs
100 ml of warm milk
1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
1 teaspoon of lemon zest
Note:
Wash your hands with soap and warm water. Clean your oven with a damp cloth soaked in warm soapy water. Now set the heat to 170*C to preheat. Grease a clean 9 by 10 inch baking tray then line with parchment paper at the bottom & put aside. Measure out your ingredients carefully and precisely.
METHOD
STEP 1
Mix all the ingredients in a cake mixing machine and use the cake beater attachment to cream on low speed for 2 minutes then increase to the highest speed and beat for 8 to 10 minutes.
STEP 2
Pour your cake batter in your baking tray, then level and bake in a preheated oven for 40 minutes or until baked.
STEP 3
For decorating cut slices & place on your desired plate, then drizzle some chocolate and vanilla sauce & garnish as per your preference!
