Gulab Jamun Recipe

GULAB JAMUN (serves 12)

INGREDIENTS

1 ½ cups of milk powder
¼ cup self raising flour
¼ cup semolina
½ cup warm ghee
¾ cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder

METHOD

Mix all dry ingredients and add warm ghee then mix into a soft dough (using light hands) by gradually adding warm milk. Set dough aside for 2 minutes. Make small balls (Like meatballs) and deep fry on medium-slow heat for 5-8 mins until browned evenly. Leave to cool.
Serve chilled!

FOR SUGAR SYRUP:
In a pan, add 2 cups of Sugar and 4 & half cups of water. Add ½ tsp Cardamom powder and 3–4 strands of saffron. Simmer for 15 minutes until slightly thick. Now add the gulab jamun balls and leave to cool.
Garnish with some desiccated coconut! Serve Hot with ice cream (Optional)
