T-BONE STEAK WITH CREAMY MUSHROOM SAUCE SERVED WITH MASHED POTATOES RECIPE
Serves 2
Prep Time: 25-30 mins
INGREDIENTS
2 pcs beef (t-bone steak)
Salt and pepper
Mushroom (slice)
Onion (chopped small)
40ml Brandy
200ml double cream
ACCOMPANIMENT
300g Irish potatoes
200ml milk
100g cheddar cheese
French beans (a handful)
METHOD
T-BONE STEAK & SAUCE
STEP 1
Season the meat with salt and pepper on both sides.
STEP 2
In a hot pan, add little oil then place the steak to cook on the first side, reducing the heat to medium after about 1 minute into cooking.
STEP 3
Cook for about 2-3 minutes on the first side then flip the steak to cook on the second side. Add little oil if necessary. Cook for a further 2 minutes or until done to your liking. The cooking time will be dependent on the thickness of your meat. Set the meat aside to rest while covered.
STEP 4
On the same pan add a little oil, cook 2 tbsp of chopped onion and sliced mushrooms and allow to brown slightly on high heat. Add the brandy when browned and be careful as it will light up. Allow for the flame to burn out and add little water/stock then allow it to simmer for about 1 minute on low heat.
STEP 5
Add seasoning and finally add the cream to make the sauce complete.
MASHED POTATOES
STEP 1
Peel, wash and cut the potatoes into smaller pieces and place in a pot with salted water. Boil the potatoes until cooked and drain off the water.
STEP 2
Add a little pepper(optional) or nutmeg, margarine/butter(1 tbsp) and the cheese and mash the potatoes while hot.
STEP 3
Add 150 ml milk and continue mashing until all lumps are finished. add more milk if you want to make the potatoes creamier. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
Serve your steak hot with the mashed potatoes and sauteed french beans!
