It has a lot of variations but traditionally every Shepherd’s Pie must have meat, mash and cheese in it. SHEPHERD’S PIE
SHEPHERD’S PIE RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
1 large onion chopped
2 carrots chopped into small cubes
500gms mutton/lamb mince
4tbs Worcestershire sauce
4 large potatoes
Rosemary 4 sprigs
Salt and pepper
Oil
Grated cheese
METHOD
STEP 1
In a large pot boil potatoes till fully cooked and then mash season with salt.
STEP 2
In a hot pan, add oil and sauté the onions once translucent add in the mince and rosemary and stir. Once almost cooked add in the carrots and continue cooking then add Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper and stir.
STEP 3
In an oven-safe bowl, layer the mince then cover with the mashed potato & finally add the grated cheese on top and grill in the oven till cheese melts and starts to brown.
