NO-BAKE CHOCOLATE CUSTARD TART
NO-BAKE CHOCOLATE CUSTARD TART (servings for 4-6)
INGREDIENTS For The Tart Base
200g-220g digestive biscuits
7-8 tablespoons melted butter
INGREDIENTS For The Chocolate Custard Filling
1 piece of compound chocolate
2 tablespoons custard powder
2 tablespoons sugar
500ml milk
INGREDIENTS For The Top Layer
2 pieces of compound chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
For Garnish: Handful of strawberries (cut in halves) & crushed biscuits
METHOD
STEP 1 To Make The Crust
In a large bowl add the crushed digestive biscuits (you can crush them in a sealed bag using a rolling pin). Add 7-8 tablespoons of melted butter and mix with a spatula until all combined. Use a 9-inch tart pan and add foil to the inside then add this mixture and press firmly to the sides and bottom of the mixture. Place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
STEP 2 To Make The Chocolate Custard Filling
Add to a non-stick pan half a litre of milk and 2 tablespoons of custard and sugar. Use a spatula and on a medium heat keep stirring to avoid clumping. Add 1 piece of compound chocolate to this and cook until custard consistency. Add this to the cooled crust & smoothen out with help of a spatula. Return back to the freezer for another 5 minutes.
STEP 3: The Final Top Layer
In a microwavable bowl add the 2 pieces of chocolate and 2 tablespoons of butter and microwave for about a minute or so until chocolate is softened. Mix the butter and chocolate well with a spoon. Add this on top of the chocolate custard filling. Garnish with a layer of crushed biscuits & chopped strawberries whilst still warm.
Tip: You can melt another piece of chocolate in the microwave and use it to help keep the strawberries in place.
Chill before plating & serving!

Dear Sirs,
Your recipe for the no bake chocolate custard tart refers. For baking it is usually very important to get the ingredients just right. So it would help when giving measurements to advise if it is a heaped tablespoon or level tablespoon, whether it is dark compound chocolate or milk compound chocolate and what is the equivalent of one piece of compound chocolate in terms of weight. I want to try the recipe but am hesitant to try it because of these reasons. Would appreciate your feedback on this.

Hi Gulnar, thank you so much for your feedback ? Please note this a no-bake recipe and do try it you can’t go wrong trust me! (Just be careful about the crust you don’t want to add a lot of butter as that is the main part of this recipe :)) For this particular recipe we actually didn’t need the use of measuring cup etc and it is a very easy recipe. For the chocolate, you can use dark, milk or even white compound it is all on your preference. I used milk and I used 1-2 pieces(50g) of the 400g compound chocolate you can even add more up to your liking ?
Do try and let us know how it turned out ?
