Mars was born on June 21, 1992, in Paris, France. She is the daughter of a former Tanzanian ambassador in France, Sammy Mdee, and Sophia Mdee. She is the sister of Tanzanian television presenter and singer, Vanessa Mdee who is married to an American actor, Rotimi.
From Paris to East Africa’s Music Scene
Mimi Mars’ journey in the music industry began in 2017 with her hit single “Shuga.” By 2018, she released her first EP, “The Road,” featuring six tracks. Mars made history as the first Tanzanian female artist to release an EP. Her talent and versatility have made her a prominent figure in East African music, leading to collaborations with notable artists and her participation in Coke Studio Africa 2019.
