Four Decades Of Compassion, Countless Lives Saved — & Now, A New Chapter Begins

For over 40 years, we at KSPCA Mombasa have devoted our hearts to protecting, rescuing, and caring for animals along Kenya’s coast. From frightened street dogs and injured cats to abandoned donkeys and neglected goats, our shelter in Nyali has been a safe haven — a place of healing, love, and second chances.

But today, we face one of the biggest challenges in our history. We have been issued an eviction notice, and we must vacate our long-time premises within the next few months. This means we urgently need to move to a new site — to rebuild our shelter and continue the vital work that so many animals depend on.

Our Story — And Our Commitment

Since our founding, we’ve rescued, treated, and rehomed thousands of animals in distress. Every day, our dedicated team of animal welfare officers, vets, and volunteers works tirelessly — treating injuries, responding to cruelty cases, running vaccination and sterilisation drives, and educating the public about compassion and care.

Currently, we house nearly 250 animals, each with their own story of resilience. Some came to us from neglect, others from abuse, and many were simply lost and alone. Every one of them has found safety with us — and we are determined not to let this move disrupt their care.

A New Beginning — But We Can’t Do It Alone

While this move comes with heartbreak, it also offers hope. We see this as an opportunity to build a modern, purpose-built animal hospital and shelter that will better serve both animals and the community. Our vision includes spacious, well-ventilated kennels and catteries, a dedicated surgery and quarantine area, improved rehabilitation zones, and a welcoming space for visitors and adopters.

However, such a move requires immense financial and material support — and this is where we humbly call upon you, our friends and community, to stand by us once again.
