Improving Academic Performance In Children – By Alvira Diwan

How To Improve Academic Performance In Children? – Written By Alvira Diwan

Every parent wants their children to excel in every field they step in. As parents, you try your best to instil good values and morals in your children. Instilling a positive attitude for academics is also very important. Their liking towards studies would depend based on how you introduce academics to your child.

Academic performance of children has every parent living on the edge.
There can be many do’s for improving your child’s academic performance. But there are some important don’ts to start with.

• Never pressurize your children with time or speed. Let them do things on there pace and make them understand what they are learning. Don’t focus on ‘my child is slower than other children‘. Rather see how he grasps the concepts.

• Comparing with peers is the biggest mistake parents make. It demotivates the child and also hampers his/her confidence.

• Don’t use punishments as a medium to control your children. Punishing your child for an unfinished task won’t solve the problem. Instead, you should evaluate where he is having the problem and try to solve it.

• Don’t restrict them from playing and enjoying. The famous saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is actually true.

Ways to Boost your Children’s Academic Performance –

• Demonstrate a positive attitude about education to your children.

• Encourage your child to read.

• Talk to them about the difficulties they’re facing and help them overcome it.

• Make a time table for them with time dedicated to studies, play and rest.

• Restrict the time for using gadgets.

• Instead of using Google make them use books like the dictionary, atlas, essay and grammar books.

• Encourage practical learning. Take them to field trips, museums, plays, libraries or bookstores. Let them explore the theoretical concepts practically.

Most importantly be patient. Not every child is the same and not everyone can be brilliant in studies. If your child is average in studies find out his/her interest and develop it as a skill. When one does something he or she is passionate about everything else becomes interesting too.

Your child’s emotional state plays an important role in academic excellence. Make sure that the environment at home is a happy and peaceful one.
