Importance Of Traditional Toys: 6 Reasons Why Toys Are Good For Your Child!
With the advancement of technology and the invention of touchscreens, most parents these days tend to invest in gadgets such as tablets or phones for their children. However, there’s a good reason why parents need to go back to the old school ways of life where kids use to play with either building blocks or play-doh for example. There are many ways how toys can impact a child’s development, for example, the development of a child’s cognitive skills. Remember toys inspire learning, encourage critical thinking, movement and creativity as well as work on confidence, concentration & memory skills.
1. Engages Child’s Senses- Different matching shapes with colours is a great example, where a child with the help of touch and sight would match the shapes accordingly, for example. This way a child is also learning at a younger age about shapes as well as colours and numbers just by engaging his/her senses.
2. Allows Parent-Child Interaction- This doesn’t only make it more fun but it also helps with bonding. Remember parental interaction is crucial for emotional bonding between parent and child.
3. Boosts Your Child’s Creativity– Building blocks are the perfect example of this. A child uses blocks to build whatever he imagines.
4. Helps With Cognitive Development- The traditional toys help stimulate a child’s concentration and also helps better the memory, allowing the child to solve problems. For example board games can be good for memory skills.
5. Helps Better Motor Skills- A child’s fine and gross motor skills are worked on when a child uses toys, for example, undressing or dressing a doll.
6. Works On Building Interpersonal & Social Skills- Traditional toys help kids to learn alongside one another and interact with one another building their interpersonal & social skills
