Coping With Your Negative Voice – Positive Reflection Of The Week
How To Cope With Your Negative Voice, Your Inner Critic? – Written By Michelle Arscott
This week’s video gives practical tips on how to cope with your negative voice, your inner critic, the voice that you often hear in your head, that can make you fearful, doubt yourself and second guess your actions.
Remember that you can control your thoughts and beliefs and that It is important that you speak to yourself kindly, in fact, you should talk to yourself like you are your own best friend, talking to yourself with kindness and compassion.
Remember to:
- Thank your inner voice for looking out for you and trying to protect you.
- Counteract the negative voice with examples of when you have succeeded.
Try this Exercise:
Track over a week what your negative inner voice is saying to you, is there a pattern?
Journal examples from your life where you have achieved, where you have succeeded, where you did overcome challenges and obstacles and rose up despite the odds and quieten that negative voice. Every time that inner critic turns up, think of one of the examples you journaled and stand up to your inner critic.
- Supplement those negative voice with positive statements- affirmations eg I have overcome obstacles in the past and I will again.
- Notice your thoughts and just observe the thoughts that come into your mind, acknowledge them and just let them just float away.
Be the master of your mind, not the servant!
Just a way to be coping with your inner voice and changing it to a positive thought. Remember one small positive thought in the day can change the whole day
