One of the most distinctive female pop voices of the 21st century, Nelly Furtado was suddenly thrust into stardom after selling over eight million copies of her debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, in ’01. The Canadian singer/songwriter then explored her Portuguese roots and her immigrant parents’ history on Folklore, which included the official anthem of Euro 2004. She switched gears for 06’s Loose, linking up with producers Timbaland and Danja to embrace hip-hop, dance, and R&B on a record which topped the charts in several countries and spawned a string of enduring hits.
