The trio of will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo entered the aughts sitting on two well-received albums that showcased the group’s alternative leaning, boho hip-hop styles. Everything changed with the addition of the singer Fergie to the crew, and since breaking into the mainstream with 2003’s Elephunk they’ve become masters at coining catchy pop hooks and tapping into futuristic electronic grooves. Adding the production talents of David Guetta and DJ Ammo to the mix for The E.N.D. and The Beginning proves that the group can also hang in the dance pop world.
